Oncorhynchus Mykiss is the latin name for the main trout species produced in Denmark. The total total production in AquaPri of rainbow trout is more than 6.000 tons per year.
Most of our trout is harvested as large trout in the months November-January after almost 3 years after spawning. At that time, the trout will have reached a size of 3-5 kg, which is the most popular size for the retail and food service market, and for further reprocessing in the smoking industry.
Most of our large trout from 3 kg up to 5 kg are farmed at our sea farms off the coasts of Denmark. Every year in April we transport our trout from our inland trout farms to sea. In November/December the same calender year after 7-8 months at sea, our trout are ready for slaughtering and are carefully transported in large well boats to our harvesting facility in Aarosund in the South of Jutland.
