Eel

We can offer live and slaughtered fresh eel as well as frozen eel in all sizes. The eel are collected at our different divisions in Denmark, at fishermen or arriving with our trucks, collecting the live on the coasts of Sweden and Denmark. Further, we purchase wild eel all over Europe for instance in Greece, Italy, Holland, France and Ireland. All eel are being transported to Frederiksvaerk where they are being checked, graded and placed in tanks in our modern plant. The eel are being graded after quality and size. All grading is done manually to ensure the best possible quality control.

The eel are now ready for distribution.

Live eel are distributed by our tanker trucks or packed in export boxes, designed and developed by Frederiksvaerk Aaleexport. The unique export boxes ensure that the eel arrive alive at our customers as well as maintain the good quality that characterizes our ompany.

Slaughtered eel are being packed in poly boxes with ice. We pack the quantity our customers require, send them directly to the customer or for pick up at one of our forwarding agents at the Danish border. We deliver every day to Hamburg, Bremerhaven and Cuxhaven.

Frozen eel are gutted, packed in cartons and frozen in a special tunnel freezer at very low temperatures which ensure quick freezing and top quality. Afterwards the eel are stored in our coldstorage at a temperature of minus 26 degrees Celsius.

The catches of wild eel have been decreasing during the last ten years. To handle the demand from our customers we have increased our purchase of farmed eel. This business is today forming a great part of our business with eel. The quality of the farmed eel is today just as good as the quality of the wild eel. Further the farmed eel have the advantage that they are available all year.
